With the name, National Operations, you can assume that our focus is huge, not to mention 7X24, and you'd be right. In a nutshell, National Operations (NOPS) is a group of 1800-plus people who provide day-to-day monitoring and support to Kaiser Permanente's medical groups, business partners and millions of members. Our infrastructure consists of 6,000-plus servers in numerous platforms running over 2,500 applications servicing more than 130,000 users located in more than 400 medical offices, hospitals and administrative facilities. We make about 2,300 changes a month to our applications, systems and networks, so meeting commitments is a big piece of the challenge. And with so many disparate applications, platforms and code differentials, we're always striving to reduce the complexity of our environment through systems management and automation. As in the practice of medicine, our data centers at Kaiser Permanente are a continuous operation that never stops.
As a Lead Business Consultant you will help design/improve a number of department processes; recommend enhancement releases within Remedy (tool for incident/problem/change management); oversee KP-IT and National Operations policies and best practices; define/design/implement key operations processes to support the implementation of plan, build and run framework within the organization; and manage process improvement (including tool enhancements/release recommendations). You will also maintain the operations of a service catalog; provide workflows, process diagrams and gap analysis; manage monthly maintenance windows; act as the point-of-contact for new projects and auditor requests; and develop and execute training plans. Minimal travel will be required.
This position requires 6-8 years experience as a project manager or business consultant in a large IT organization; the proven ability to manage and complete multiple projects under time constraints and effectively design, implement or manage in a large-scale, complex business environment; team leadership capabilities; certification/familiarity with the ITIL foundation library; and a background in the adoption/implementation of plan, build and run framework. You also need outstanding communications, partnership and strategic planning skills, along with excellent writing/documentation skills; the ability to represent Operations and drive projects; and knowledge of various software tools, including Microsoft Office.
This position consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licensure requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures. Kaiser Permanente is proud to be an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
