ITIL :: View topic - SAP Application changes and categories
Posted: Thu Dec 13, 2007 2:11 am Post subject: SAP Application changes and categories
HI All,
I am new to this Forum so be gentle!
I am a contract change manager currently helping to implement a new ITIL change management process into a manufacturing company who run SAP plus a host of other applications.
My current issue concerns SAP Application changes. I need to group and categorise the numerous changes in SAP so that change raisers can easily select the appropriate Category for the change they are making.
Someone, somewhere must have done this before and I am all for not reinventing the wheel.
My alternative is to sit with one of the developers or managers and go through each Functional area, determine what changes can be made and then place them in a Category or group once we have assessed the risk/impact.
Personally I don't really mind this approach as I think I would make a good job of it, however the developers are all in the States and I do not think the company wants to fly me out there (although they may have to).
I am aware that the change requestor could select the category of each change themselves (on advice from the change manager) but we want to take guesswork out of the equation and perhaps provide templates for certain 'groups' of SAP changes to expedite the task or creating the change.
