Hello All,

I am not ITIL Certified as yet, but have gone through internet and understood basic things about ITIL.

I am in to Banking Software, with 6 years of experience in Software Application Development and Software Application Support (More in to support). Going ahead i would like to work in MNC Banks As Software Application Support Manager who handles support activities of and software application involved in vendor managment or in house team ect

Will ITIL Help me?
Is ITIL for guys in Networking and infrastructure like hardware?
Does Service Support and Service Delivery in ITIL holds good for Software Application.
Should I Go for ITIL? will it help? (Your opinion pls)
Whats is Job Market for ITIL Holder with Software background

Thanks
Nirail

Hi,

ITIL is not just for the techies (if even). Yes it will help you in the banking industry. Due to regualtion banks are looking to adopt recognised frameworks. ITIL and COBIT are very popular.

It is the same for any education, yes you will benefit from it provided you know where you want to go with it. If you jest do the exams and hope something changes it probably won't.

ITIL is not about technology per se but the management and process that IT types should use to make the iT environment run smoothly

I agree,

ITIL is not for engineerigns, for software experts or hardware producers. ITIL almost is FOR EVERYBODY. It gives you a fresh look about things, what you are doing every day, but never ask yourself - Is it right? What should I do to impove this? How do I reach this?

My best suggestions - go to the ITIL Foundations trainings, and pass exam. You can only get! Smile

Hi Nirail,

I do agree with other posts that ITIL has value for 'everyone'. In addition for applications you might want to check if ASL (Application Service Library) is of use to you. The ASL Foundation have a website you can find through google (site in Dutch and english).

Hope this helps,

OGC actually just released a whitepaper on 'ITIL V3 and ASL'. You can download it from their website (you might have to look a bit before you find it, the full title is 'ITIL V3 and AS: Sound Guidance for Application Management and Application Development'.
