Hi everyone,
I'm an ITIL Service Manager in New Zealand and am researching why IT departments should implement ITIL Change Management (for presentation to company senior execs).
What I need is some hard facts and statistics on the reasons......not the standard benefits such as "reduce incidents, less rework etc";
E.g. "Over the 650 companies surveyed who have implemented Change Management, incidents have reduced by x% over a y period"
Any references to research material would be greatly appreciated

itsmf should have data on that as well in their magazines
if you are member you be able to see the old one
in addition, gartner would have studies
on the corrolary. you can also use news itesm where poor change management or no change management has caused problems for users
1 - barclays bank - BST to GMT screwup
2 - ISP - Hawaii Oct 2007 - router change which was not planned caused major outage - Honolulu star bulletin or advertiser
3 - SQL slammer worm attack. because change to implement patch for amny company did not get done
etc

Change Management is POWER & CONTROL. /....evil laughter
I can add one of those horror stories to that list
2007 - Australia: Australian Stock exchange lost close to 4 Billions Dollars due to an unauthorised change to the stock exchange bulletin board. The change caused the board to freeze, thus causing panic with the traders and eventuated in a mad panic selling of stocks.
