Does anyone have any suggestions for the first steps of PM? I just took a position as a PM (new role for the company) and I'm curious of how others got started.
What would you start with?
I'd do what you told the interviewer's you do, as that's what they'll be expecting you to do .
I'm assuming you have an ITIL grounding, know what PM is, how it interacts with and links to the other disciplines, and are clear on why your org needs the function...?
Armed with info I'd say the world is your oyster, you can make it what you want it to be, etc etc.

I have also taken over PM as new role it is quite challenging as the first step you required to understand the Incident management process i.e how they log the calls, sla for the client specific, application supported for the client specific, look at the old problem cases,PAP , etc that will give u a good understanding

Hi,
I just want to share an excellent place to get information of how to setup processes in ITIL.
It is the State of Northern California Office of Information Technology Services website
http: // www .its.state.nc.us/oep/overview.htm
Select the "Active Processes"
Each process has their own set of documents, each with their document number so you can get the idea which one to do first.
Admin, is it Ok? Please .. this is one hell of a place
Regards,
Asril
