ITIL Admin,
Has there been any requests for an additional forum
Service Delivery topics are slowing starting to pop up
Service Delivery (v2)
Discussions about Capacity, Service Level, Availability, Contigency and Financial for IT should be posted in here _________________ John Hardesty

Hi....
Difficult one that: I'll open it up for wider debate.... hopefully folks will chip in with their opinion.
We've hesitated to add more specific v2 topics because... well.... because they are v2.
Retrospectively we should have done it years ago. My fault! But now?
What does everyone reckon? |

I'd agree with the guys Please do it!
Given that many companies will not move to V3 as they see little if any benefit, and the exams are yet to be withdrawn, this says that V2 is alive and well (sort of) _________________ Regards

I think for Now
Just Service Delivery (set) - as a Forum. I dont think we need 5 new forums
The issue about V3
The V3 disciplines that dont meet the current forums could be included in a new forum but i have not seen any posts about it _________________ John Hardesty

John,
I think V3 get's a few mentions. The thing about forums is that they're self fulfilling; if you create one, people will chat on it. Do do we need a V3 forum? Probably because there's no point living in denial of it's existence!
If I were restructuring the forums I'd have:
Service Support (I, P, C etc.)
Service Management (A, Cap, SM etc)
V3, book six and other new/connected thinking
Training/Cert
Jobs
So quite minimal but simple.

So... Service Delivery as a generic forum... and leave the other forums to morph over time into v3?
That seems to strike the balance at present. |

I agree
I also like the idea that the Service Delivery Forum could, over time, itself morph into more distinct forums. _________________ Regards

I agree Delivery/Support can be as one, but disagree about letting forums 'morph'.
If this is an ITIL dedicated forum, why avoid acknowledging the new version?

By 'morph' I meant allowing the forums to evolve at their own pace.
It is not an issue of avoiding anything, just enabling the natural debate to shift turf as the new version is taken up. |
