Can we get the results of ITIL Foundation exam immediately after finishing the test at Prometric, or do we have to wait for some period (weeks) to know if we passed or not? Kindly advice...

I'm surprised you couldn't get this info from your trainers.
Anyway, the training companies don't administer or mark the exams - though the list of examiners includes trainers.
Your training provider will forward the papers to the examining body, who will send them to an examiner, who will send them back to the examining body who will then informa you of your result...
Or at least that's how it was done when I did it - (about 2 years ago).
So I can't say exactly how long it will take, but it took about five weeks for my results to come through.
Maybe you've done the exam and it's too late for my reply now, but I know a computerized multiple choice exam at prometric gives you the result immediately. I've done some exams at prometric and a printout of the result is printed immediately after the exam. I have yet to receive any of my certification documents from the concerned bodies.
