Hi mates,
Iam a ITIL (Foundation) & PMP Certified IT Infracture resource working as a Senior Database analyst working on the incident & problem management processes related to database domain. Now i am greatly insterested to move in to the Service Mgmt. function (to be more like a techno-functional resource).
Now, i would like to have your valuable inputs/suggestions on,
1. What is the advantage i will get by doing ITIL SM v2 certification ?
2. When will the ITIL SM exams be retired ?

What on earth is a "techno-functional resource"?
It sounds as if it should have a serial number (R2D2 or HAL9000?)
Irrespective, the big advantage of doing ITIL SM v2 certification is that you will learn a lot about service management as an activity rather than as jargon. _________________ "Method goes far to prevent trouble in business: for it makes the task easy, hinders confusion, saves abundance of time, and instructs those that have business depending, both what to do and what to hope."

1) Quite well regarded certification, exam format is a better test of knowledge than v3 multi-guess. Well established training courses (some of the v3 courses are still a bit new to trainers). Most companies focus on the v2 processes in the first year or two, especially the SS ones. When added to the v3 Managers bridge, the fastest and I believe easiest way to v3 Expert certification.
2) whenever they (APMG?) make an announcement plus 6 months. No such announcement has been made.

.....and the rest. Its all about the money now and they will milk v2 for every last drop.
