How would a role of Incident manager be best defined? I understand it may vary from one organization to other but still would like to get some generic picture of the role and what can be expected of this role.

Now far be it for me to suggest that you're lazy but I googled 'Incident Manager Job Description' and it returned 203,000 items - the first page of which (I didn't read all 203k....shame on me) gave examples or Incident Manager rolesmost of which were generic.
Hah, Boris,
bing and I beat you (with the same search): 983.000 hits !
Does this mean that MY search engine is better?? Or do they found irregular results which shall produce incidents ???
Sorry, time for weekend,

Only use generic descriptions for generic jobs.
A [specific] role of Incident Manager is best defined by determining the requirements you have for incident management, taking into consideration the nature of the services and infrastructure involved as well as the other service management roles that are in place, or are going to be in place. _________________ "Method goes far to prevent trouble in business: for it makes the task easy, hinders confusion, saves abundance of time, and instructs those that have business depending, both what to do and what to hope."
