IT Service Management is the land of milk and honey.
Once you have that foundation certificate you will be one of a very select band of people with that qualification and you will be able to name your price in the job market, with opportunities opening up all around the globe.
We shall all bow down and kiss your feet in the vain hope that you throw us a morsel of your wisdom, expertise and benificent gifts. |

"I want to know how should i go about if I want to do career in IT service management."
If you want a career in IT Service Management I would highly recommend arriving on time for the course, paying attention, making notes, studying in the evening, and passing the exam. But then again....... |

true
but that will be a different defintion for service management
i would not know how to define
incident, problem or configuration
availability, change and capacity would have unqiue defintions ;-0 _________________ John Hardesty

Keeping the ITSM / marriage analogy alive, from my perspective I think Financial Management is the discipline that you most need to control.
I looked in our CMDB wardrobe the other day and noticed that it was full of CI's called 'ladies shoes'. I ran an audit of said CI's and noticed that hardly any of them have ever been used.
The Mrs claims that they are her Business Continuity backup CI's, and worth the capital investment. At this stage I got bored with all this ITIL Expert-esque talk and went to the pub.
Back to the original question. Best of luck with your exam. The first step on the ITSM ladder. |

Wouldn't too many shoes point to a failure of capacity management? _________________ Mick Smith

That would depend on the Service Catalogue, and whether 'the Mrs' was delivering services to external customers.
Probably best to perform a TOP of the CIs, bringing in your mates...erm...SMEs to clarify whether these CIs were essential for the service provision. If nothing is clear at that point, wait till the weekend, clear out all CIs & evaluate the impact. This should facilitate improvement of your DRP & see the need for an RFC to re-allocate your resources to the PUB. |

Are you currently working in IT? Which area?
You do realise a coundation certificate is only a start. Get that, build your experience, try to do a few different jobs and decide what you enjoy and where you can contribute the most. Then get experience in those areas. And take responsibility for your contuous improvement and education. _________________ DYbeach

Apologies for any unintended offence, however, the current OLA does not cover fightin', nor going outside. Please call the Service Desk to place a request which will be addessed according to priority & urgency.
