I'm new to the ITIL process so please bare with me. A question that gets asked alot in my organization revolves around how a reboot is categorized during the change process.

My question is:

How would ITIL define a server recycle to restore service? In my organization a recycle is a change, and a contignency plan for a recycle is different depending on who you ask. My opinion is a recycle is a recycle, you can plan to do or do it in reponse to an incident, but you can't "really" test it other then doing one, nor can you back one out. But would this make it a high risk change? My organization puts anything that can't be backed out as a high risk change. A recycle seems to be in a whole different category as something non-backout-able non testable, but probably 90% success rate to fix many issues.

Just want to here the communities thoughts on this....?
