Foundation V3 Certification- Self Study

I'am new to this forum,this being my first post.
I would like to say "hello" to everyone here.
I'am an IT Admin and looking to complete my ITIL Foundaton Certification.
I will have to complete it by myself as I cannot afford the course.
Have been through the sticky for self study.

But wanted extact information on what study material is required and where can I get it from to PASS the Certification.
I need to do this pretty quickly therefore would appreciate any additional tips on the exam and study methodology.

Please do not expect responses quite so quickly. Bumping in such a short time frame can give the impression that you are demanding rather than asking.

I'm sure someone will know what you want, but they will not respond well to harassment.

I will respond - however, it wont be to your likening - but that is what is expected from me

1 - Study materials - they will cost money. the ITIL books itself cost money - in the UK they are £60 a book - 5 books - you do the maths

2 - What study materials to use. The books for one. Use google or search through forum - this one i think - for any other supplemental books

3 - Tips and study techniques -

exam tips - read the question, read the question, choose the answer but read the question to make sure it is the answer

answer it correctly to get a correct score
enough correct answers will get you a passing mark

study techniques - read the material, understand the material, etc charts and graphs have meaning

Why should people give you more suggestions as how to study

It is your responsibility to study the material.
It is your responsibility to find what material is needed to study
It is your responsibility to find out what is required to pass the test.

Are you that incapable of conducting basic research on the internet using the various tools that there are out there.

We, me included, are not going to spoon feed you every bit of information as to how to do things. You have to do the legwork and the study and the exam.

The information I gave you is what you need to do in order to pass any course work and pass any exam for the course work.

Coming back to the topic of this thread.
I understand that there is heaps of information out there,but what I'am after is just one book which would do it all.
This is entirely because of my busy schedule,that I need to get this exam out of the way quickly.

Any constructive comments and replies would be appreciated.

Kunalraiker... your response, "More Suggestions Please" was rather dismissive and frankly, verging on insulting. Yet the reply you had been given was constructive, acurate, fair, and the best you will get.

There is no magic solution. There is a self study course referred to at the top of this very category. There are the books. Both these and others will cost. I am not sure that what you expect to find.

Reacting to a situation you created will not get you very far.

Second, I have only a question for you

If you are too busy to conduct the research to find what is required to pass the exam - materials, books, supplemental aids, are you not going to be too busy to study the material and take the exam ?

I know this study + exam can be completed in a 3-day classroom course.
I'am very swift with studying,but believe me or not.
I'am not looking to become a subject expert on ITIL foundation at this stage.
All I'am asking for is precise material that you may have heard of from someone,if you haven't used it,that could work for someone in the fast lane as myself.

Hi Gents,

I am planning to take ITIL Foundation v3 certification. I need general info
on how to go once I am ready for the exam.

- Is it allowed to take ITIL v3 Cert without previous IT Cert?
- How much would it cost?
- Will it boost me in my career/looking for a job?
- How and when will I take the exam? I reside in Australia

You have decided to go on the excursion of studying and taking an exam - which means spending money and you dont know whether there is a benefit to you ?

Hmm... sigh...

to put your mind at ease. I will repeat what I said to all

The ITIL Certification program is the validation for those who take it that they understand the concepts for which the exam is about

THe foundation exam - which can be taken - self study, e-learning and physicial classsroom - means that one understands the basic concepts within ITIL

As it is foundation, there are lots of folks with it that have a IT job - either the job came first or they got the job after the certification, there are also lots of people with the certification who have no experience in IT attempting to get in IT and think that the certification - foundation and higher will get them a role or move them higher on the employer's list

This is a fallacy.

As a senior IT type and as a mgmt wonk, I look for the following - in this order - experience, experience, experience and certification / education.

The more senior the role the more technical role and the more responsibility the role has the more I lean on the first 3 conditions.

ITIL FOundation is the equivilent of understanding basic mathematics - addition, subration, multiplication and division. It means just that - FOundation

Are there roles out for IT ? Yes
Are there experienced IT folks looking for work ? Yes
Are there inexperienced folk looking to get into IT ? Yes

As for salary... with out any knowledge or skills, you will be lucky to get into a call centre / service desk role - answering calls and updating tickets.
