|
|
My ITIL Exam History (I have never failed an ITIL Certification Exam):
V2:
ITIL Foundation Certification, 2005
ITIL Practitioner Certification, (IPRC), 2006
ITIL Practitioner Certification, (IPSR), 2006
V3:
Foundations Bridge, 2008
Service Operations Lifecycle, 2008
CSI Lifecycle, 2009
Thus I just passed the CSI exam. Much harder IMO than the V3 SO which I got 88% on. Passed CSI with only a 75% mark.
The questions/answers were very obscure, required extensive critical thinking, and did not align with the study materials at all. The mock exams presented were much easier than the real exam.
So now I'm 6 out of 6. Perfect record.
I just wonder if these certifications have any real value in the business market today, or is just another piece of paper?. Being able to execute the frameworks involved, in the real world businees culture, is the real challenge.
I don't know how many people have passed the CSI test yet. It seems fairly new.
There is a method I use for passing these tests, and it's pretty basic. Obviously I won't divlge any specific information about the tests themselves.
all the best |

Elbow,
You cant self study and take the exams for any ITIL Certificiation beyond foundation
You have to take the course / exam through an authorized training company _________________ John Hardesty

You are STILL taking an approved course from an approved training company
This is the exact issue about doing classroom versus distant learning
The training company should be providing some sort of support service? _________________ John Hardesty

Not exactly. I have completed the course - limited depending on how much you pay. Support is there during that time. However, i want to self study a little longer before attempting the exam. The course was cheap but the accreditation needed for the exam attained. If i wanted further help, of course that would cost more. A no go. Unfortunately my company do not offer to pay toward costs and therefore i have to finance. I am not looking to become a CSI manager, just to enhance understanding of processes etc, before you go on about not attending a proper classroom course.
Anyway, i was searching for exam prep tips when i happened on this post and thought to respond. |

if the course came from an Accredited Training company, no issue
You met the requirements.
I have issues when people think they dont need to follow the 'official' route
BTW: I am finally doing the ITIL 2011 Certification path
I do not know where there are exam tips or not for any of the exams that are not directly linked to the training company providing the course / exam.
The only advice I can give is go to the Official Web site and find the syllabus / requirements for the CSI Exam.
That should telll you what will be on the exam (should be)
The only other thing is that the questions will be most likely - long winded and confusing with the following scenario most likely
The right answer
the right answer but for a different process
the right answer but only if the conditions were different
the wrong answer
The hard part is always determining quickly which is which

Yes i should revisit the apmg site but of course the syllabus on paper is lengthy and the exam will only include a small portion of the syllabus i suspect although various areas will be incorporated into each question.
Obviously the best way to pass is to learn well across the whole course but sometimes people come across a learning method that can work well. Shot in the dark maybe, but worth a look.
I do have 5/6 sampole papers from scouring the web but i suspect the exam itself will be a whole lot harder. |

Go to the ITIL Official Site. The OGC Site not the APMG _________________ John Hardesty
