My boss has asked me to do a one day overview of ITIL.

I hate re-inventing the wheel, so can anyone point me to a good brief on the net.

I will need to tailor it to meet our task.

Cheers

Raafie

Hello Raafie,

I would recommend you first go to the OGC site (itil.co.uk).

There are a number of FAQs and other summaries that you can use as a baseline.

May I please ask what your "task" is that you wish to customize it for?

Regards,

May I please ask who your audience is and what you believe they are looking for, as well as how you would like to provide it?

Regards,

Without knowing exactly what you want to get out of the day it's hard for anyone to make any useful suggestions. Why not start by writing an a4 presentation brief focusing on the key points you want your audience to go away remembering and thinking about. Publish it here then the rest of us can make suggestions as to resources that may help flesh it out for you.

Is it that you are having to present ITIL to people who will make a decision as to whether it goes forward, so the business case is needed?

Or is it that the decision has been made by management and now they've delegated the awareness building to you? In which case explaining to staff what ITIL is, and how it will change things, what will be involved, etc. Will you be illustrating one process? In which case perhaps a hands-on roleplay workshop would be better than a powerpoint presentation.

A useful starting point either way is the past conferences of the itSMF - a lot of excellent resource material there.

Good luck.
