Hello Group,

I signed up for HP's ITIL Foundations Class. Has anyone here taken it? If so, is it any good? Was it worth the $1,500.00 US that I'm paying for it?

I have no experience of the HP course, but in the UK Foundation costs around 800 for a 3 day course that includes the exam - so at roughly 2 dollars US to 1, not so far away

HP are working along side unis in this country to offer degree level education in ITIL so I imagine they know their Service Management well, a trainer on my course used HP as an example of a company who not only used and trained in ITIL but had created their own ITIL compliant applications and such.

For the foundations certificate i honestly wouldn't worry about going through the formal class for that price. Unless your company is paying for it Smile If you are self paying there's a really good book out there for about $200 which covered everything well. I just completed the IPRC training with HP and its very well outlined and taught.

I have been through the HP Foundation program and it was absolutely great. The course takes you through the different processes in details obviously. You get to practice past exams with a professional, which is good because a lot of those questions are tricky. But the most memorable is probably your participation in a Formula1 racing game where the whole class goes through all the ITIL concepts in a fun yet stressful experience. It gives you a really good understanding of a number of ITIL concepts, the value of an incident database, Known Error database, the importance of time in your support processes, the importance of the speaking the same language as the customer, etc.

I have recommended our company adopts HP as its ITIL training provider because (1) they are present pretty much everywhere in the world and (2) we are able to control the consistency of the message to our teams. We are very happy with the results.

I have previously taken my Foundation training through CA (Computer Associates) and the training was very good. I passed the exam with flying colors.

I'm in the process of taking a Practitioner course and exam in 2 weeks, again with CA. They also (similar to the HP comments) have a large background in ITIL and have been working with clients and partners in this space for a long time.

I've taken two Practitioner courses through HP and I've recommended them to other areas within my company as a good solid training organization.
