Hi Everyone,

I've been working with ITIL over the past 4 years (including 3 implementations) and crazy as it sounds I have no certification whatsoever. I am heavily versed in all the terminology and particularly strong in Service Support.

I would like to get foundation certification but I do not want to spend the money to sit through a course which I am sure would be old stuff for me. Unfortunately all of the sites I have gone to for certification always talk about the training course first AND THEN they give you the exam. Is it possible to just pay for the exam (thus saving a little money)???

All thoughts would be appreciated on this. Question

You can sit the Foundation exam without attending a course. You need to apply to sit it at a Pearson or Pro-metric centre. You DO need to attend a recognised course for the Practitioner or Managers exams.

Thanks! That was a quick reply. I'll cross the Practitioner/Manager exam bridge when I come to it Smile

Though you familier with ITIL stuff. would advise you to practise sample questions as part of your self study before attending the actual exam.

You can do, but, be careful of questions you find on the internet, because they are sometimes incorrect. Better to read about ITIL first instead. i recommend Foundations of service management ISBN: 9077212582.

As opposed to IT Service Management Foundations: ITIL Study Guide (ISBN 0977146901)? I'm just curious....

Had a look - its not one I have seen, and it looks OK - but I still would recommend the other one.

I actually went ahead and ordered the one you suggested, I was just wondering if the other one I ran across was any good. Thanks!
