I just passed the ITIL foundation with EXIN, but also noticed that there is an ISEB. Is one better than the other?

ISEB handles exams primarily (I think) in the UK whereas EXIN covers worldwide.

Also, the EXIN foundation includes security questions whereas the ISEB one doesn't.

In terms of quality - I don't consider there to be any difference.

Both are recognized.

For Foundations:
ISEB has very little in the way of security questions
EIXIN has security questions

For the Practitioners
ISEB has an essay question in addition to the multiple choice questions;
EXIN only has the multiple choice questions.

For the Managers:
ISEB only offers the exam twice a year; it has a distinction level if you pass with 65% on both the first time around; the exams are typically offered at 1-4 on day 1 and then 10-1 on day 2; and they like 20 point questions as a whole question.
EXIN offers the exam mulitiple times per year; it doesn't have a distinction level; both my exams started at 10 in the morning, so there was a recovery period; and while each question was 20 points, they were broken into multiple parts.

I am an ISEB examiner - to correct a couple of things you said - The ISEB exams take place 4 times a year, and can be offered worldwide, although there each question is worth 20 marks, they are usually split into a number of sections (for example 2 x 5 marks, plus 1 x 10 ). The timing of exams is as you say, but many people prefer this, as they have plenty of time to travel on the first day, without worrying about being late, then stay over and get the second exam over with the following morning.

Liz,

I heard this before about EXIN and included security questions, but when I had my Foundations 2,5 yrs ago, I had no security questions, and it was not covered in training material either. Has this been introduced since then?

There is slightly more about security in Exin, but not a lot (but there is hardly anything about it at all in ISEB) - you may or may bnot get a question on it.
