Hi,

Is PLANNED Downtime (ie as mentioned in maintenance window) part of the Availability figure?

If not, I can promise my users 99.9% for example & schedule planned outages for low-impact times, eg late evenings.

What does ITIL say here?

Hi Bob,

Planned downtime (i.e. your maintenance window) should not be included in your formal downtime percentage. On the other hand, you should not forget to formally exclude it in your SLA!

Hello,
A downtime counts as part of your un-availability figures unless otherwise agreed with your customer and specified in the SLA.
