Hello & Good Day,
I'm freshie just gradute from univercity and doing my practical now. i would like to know what is really about ITIL and what are the connection between it and how it use database. is ITIL use squel? (if im not mistaken spelling)
i never learn about ITIL when studying, but working environment make me to know and learn what is the real ITIL.
ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) is a set of books that form a framework for managing IT services. It is not a database although many of its processes rely on information that may well be stored in databases be they sql, access, or even just an excel spreadsheet.
For a really excellent summary of ITIL, head over to the magazine CIOdotcom and check out the 'ABCs of ITIL' - feel free to google it.
For other information visit my blog, there's links to sites and also downloads in some of the old posts.
Final point, if your working environment needs you to know about ITIL then really they should be teaching you which parts of ITIL they have implemented, and how they have done so in your environment. As ITIL is not a standard, and therefore not prescriptive, you could work in one place and their implementation of ITIL may be quite different to another.
