Hi All,
I'm thinking about doing an indepth link into ITIL and ISO 900X/2000, has anyone already gone down this path, and would you be interested in answering a questionaire for my MBA If so drop me a line at chard@gmx.net

I'd suggest that there is a link but it's pretty straight forward and clear cut. This probably leaves little complexity to sustain a postgrad investigation. In essence ISO 9000 says that you should have and work to defined processes that are subject to continuous improvement. ITIL (and BS15000) add to this by proposing guidelines (or requirements) on what the processes for an IT service provider should look like.

Yes I had thought about this too, but (as always)
both ISO and ITIL can be tailored to the individual company. Therefore there may well be (just a tad more than...) a few things that not needed in ISO really mess up ITIL conforms etc.
It was an idea, and as this was the first responce, I guess no one is of the like mind.
I guess the idea, is just not good enough - but not to worry I do have enough other mba topics in mind. Andf I'll be doing ITIL in future projects...

Both are process based. My suggestion to customers has always been forget ISO 9000 for the moment, and implement ITIL. Once you've pretty well done that, take a look at ISO 9000, and with minimal peaking and tweaking, you're there. Try both at the same time, and you'll never achieve either.

doing ITIL first would be a good idea.
However, most (the well known ones anyway ) companies will already have implemented a version of ISO 900X so getting ITIL embedded into a company will have to take this into account., and having experienced some implimentations of ISO - this wil not be all that easy...
Also, not wanting to buy all the nicely expensive books still leaves me with the impression that joining the two, although theoretically easy - wont be in practice. Has anyone done actually this?
Oh, and before I forget. I've dropped the idea as an MBA topic... but I'll be looking into correlations in my up and coming career -
young, dynamic and unsuccessful - and all that...
At least the site is livening up a bit. Have fun..
