Razz

Hi Newbie here. I have CISA, CISSP, CCSP, PMP. Plus host of other IT certs. It seems ITIL would complement my career drive.

Questions:
- is the exam MCQ or written essays for Foundation and Manager
- if MCQ, how many questions, how much time r u given
- if essay, how many questions, how much time
- what link do we use for the testing bodies
- the exam is $100 USD right?
- what is the best study material / source

Thanks in advance
Don

The foundations exam is multiple choice and the managers exam is essay.
If i recall correctly its 40 questions for the foundations and 2hours if i recall, Managers i haven't quite read up on the details of it yet.
Testing that really depends on your area, i used Thompson Prometric.
Think it was $150.

For best study material browse these forums, various books are listed which will help prep you for the exam. For the majority of your other questions above, go to Exin's site for specifics.

Foundation is multiple choice 40 questions in 1 hour. You need to score 65% (26 out of 40) to pas. You can attend a 3 day course , or do it self-study.

Managers is 2 exams on consecutive days, each 3 hours. Primarily essay style (handwritten!) although bullet points and tables are allowed. You must attend training from an accredited training provider. It is 2 5-day courses, then usually a revision day just before the exam. You must pass both to get the qualification - around 50% of people manage this at the one sitting. You can re-sit just 1 if you pass 1 and fail one. About 6% get distinction - 65% or above for both papers at the same sitting.
People fail, not because they do not know ITIL, but they do not write enough, or mis-read the question, just give a brain-dump of the topic etc.
Manager's is hard, but very rewarding. You need to know the benefits, difficulties, costs and iplementation steps for each topic, and how they relate yo one another.
Hope this helps
