Hello

I m looking for price (a range) concerning CMDB software .

As we have already tools (for example applix for the incidents), the present need is not to have a big software to do everything but rather to have something basic for the configuration management.
For information, today the database exists but contains only the infrastructure.

Moreover, would somebody have an experience feedback on the times to install this software on an existing database for a big compagny (data migration, database schema (model) evolution ...) ?

Thank you

Hi Stef,

Prices for CMDBs vary greatly. They also change with things like the numbers of users.

As for something that might fit your needs and budget, please feel free to take a look at: http<://>www.TraverseIT.com as an option.

Apart from the pricing, I would recommend you make sure you are not misled by Big Brands. Make sure you feel comfortable with the guys that come and discuss their tool with you and that they really understand what you need.
Make the pricing picture complete before you sign anything.

Also, please be sure that you know what you're getting yourself into with a CMDB. Most marketed CMDBs are usually not more than Asset Registers. Even worse, most are strictly limited to infrastructure areas of IT, let alone broad enough to take on bigger picture problems for all of IT and the businesses IT serves.

It's important to understand the bigger picture of what a CMDB is, what it can do for an enterprise, and how to get it to fit in, so that it solves real business problems. If you don't understand what you're getting for your costs, you may be doing your enterprise more harm than good.

Anyhow, I hope this helps.
