Hi Folks,
Took the ITIL foundation exam on the 13th June, had done a 3 day course. Instructor gave us a mock exam, which he stated was one of the hardest he had seen. Passed the mock with a score of 35/40. Then 7 of us sat the real exam. We all got a shock, the questions went in to alot more detail on for example SLA's and their documentation. We reckon we all have failed. We took the Exam the same day V3 exams were launched and are wondering did we get a V3 Exam as we had studied V2 Course material. The exam was a factor of 3 harder than the Mock. One person was resitting the exam and exclaimed the original exam she took five weeks ago was much easier even though she missed out by 1 point for the pass. All of the Questions were more difficult than other sample papers we had taken, from memory 1 of the questions was something like this,

Which of the following is NOT how to test an IT Service Continuity Plan

• Dry run through after invocation
• Straight forward Walkthrough
• Unannounced scenario testing
• Unnanounced awareness testing

Appreciate your comments.

Thanks

We took the exams in Ireland on the 13th June 2007

You would only have been sent a V3 exam if the trainer specifically ordered it. If you had an invigilator supplied by ISEB, they would have checked first. The papres would have said v3.
The question you quote is perfectly answerable from V2 training, so I think that it may just have been a difficult exam (although one that is sat by many other people). I am sure that it was not V3.

One possibility is that it was one of the V2 exams set by APMG, as opposed to ISEB or EXIN. APMG is responsible for all V3 questions, but for V2 there are the 3 examination institutes. Which one you were using should have been clear during the course.

APMG are officially a third EI but are they actually in practice setting V2 exams?

The OGC website says "As an Examination Institute, APMG will offer qualifications and develop its own question bank for v2 exams. " I do not know anyone who has sat an APMG exam, but it was possible, at least until the V3 launch.

I doubt they have the time Smile

V3 will be a different story, when they start to compete with their own channel which is always a tricky - and often unhealthy - business model
