Hello everyone,
I have just finished studying and the last part I have to do is to write a Master's Thesis. I would like to write something concerning ITIL (I'm a newbee in this area but interested in it) and perhaps Open Source/ SMC.
Due to the fact that I don't have any experience with ITIL or deeper knowledge, I just wanted to ask if anybody has an idea, impulse or direction about what I could write (unfortunately, there is no real support by my professor).
Neleb,
You are taking on a difficult challenge. To go from having no deep knowledge of ITIL to producing a Masters thesis in a few months seems to me to be a mammoth undertaking, particularly as you are unlikely to gain any practical experience.
Your first step really has to be to develop a thorough understanding of the subject; this website provides plenty of clues as to where to look. Then, to find an area where you think you may be able to make a positive contribution, read and reply to the blogs and websites containing debate between such highly respected commentators as Ian Clayton, Charles T. Betz et al. If you can produce a paper that catches the attention of these experts then I would certainly like to read it.
Good Luck

I'm on the same, exactly the same, situation you are. Writing my master theasis, with no support from my teacher (1/2 my guilty because I dont make pressure...) etc....
I start to identify one problem on my organization: Helpdesk. Then I decided to make my theasis based on Incident Management & Service Desk. I am developing an app to manage incidents according to ITIL best practices, but its not easey. I suggest you DO NOT focus on all aspects of ITIL, because thats not the goal of a master theasis. IDENTIFY A PROBLEM AND PROPOSE A SOLUTION BASED ON ITIL.
Any ideas, please, share them. This way, maybe You and I finishes our theasis with great success _________________ Kimberlito

I know it is 5 years latter, but do you have somewhere publicly available your or other master thesis based on ITIL? Please post a link here or email me at rtgs@yahoo.com
