Hi

I'm currently setting up a Config Management function and looking to get the appropriate practioner training behind me. I have the choice of taking the ITIL Config Manager Practitioner or the Change, Config & Release Practitioner courses. I can see the value in both but I'm concerned that the CCR practitioner wont cover my subject area in sufficient depth.

Any advice or observations would be appreciated.

I hope you have foundation certificate already

CCR Practioner is the course to concentrate on Change, Congifuration & Release Management.

These 3 Disciplines each depend on each other so much - the practioner course for just 1 would be very week

The other course Configuration Manager course (Huh?) . Is this course about the discipline Config and how it relates to the rest or is it a ROLE course - talking about how to design & manage a CMDB.

I would recommend the CCR course. The other course sounds like a vendor specific DB admin course

John

When I took my ISEB Configuration Management Practitioner Course it was all about the process and was not a 'DBA course' It was as intensive as the Change Management Practitioner course that I have also taken. The UK was not up to speed and offering the CCR course at that time

Darkstar

Having got the above off my chest - take John's advice - the CCR course is I believe a 5 day course as opposed to the singles which are 3 days each.

Regards

Ed

Ed,

I recall seeing some vendor 'pushing' courses (theirs) as Conf Mgr course which were really vendor tool dba admin for their config module

An ITIL Config Mgmt pract course is of course process not dba

i should have clarified

John

No worries

I just get all defensive that I couldn't do the combined course, which I would have loved to do
