Hello,

I am looking for a document that describes the relationships between the processes. I want more detail than is given in Chapter 2 of Service Support. For example I'd like to hear how the outputs of one process are the inputs to another.

I am sure there must be some excellent tables somewhere on the web but I cannot find them today.

Please help.

Hi Mark,

I personally haven't seen anything that actually maps out the inter-relationships between processes. It may exist but it's a long shot, as there are a very large number of processes with very many steps/activities within them.

We focus on the data inter-relationships, leaving the process inter-relationships to be handled through a loose coupling that meets the needs of the individual client. But to be honest, I have yet to see anyone who has a successful inter-relationship mapping of any of the processes, let alone all of them.

If you find something, I'd definitely be interested in taking a look at it and trying to help you out with it.

We are currently looking for SMEs that are subject matter experts in ITIL / ISO 2000 / COBIT / COSO to help us validate the content of the 'ONION' (Ontology In Ontology) which is an OWL semantic model of the processes, procedures and events within these frameworks and the OASIS Business Centric Methodology (guidelines for Service Oriented Architecture). Hmm... the process maps from CA (ca.com/technologies/Collateral.aspx?CID=90233&ID=5755) show a very high level of the inter-relations between processes. I don't think I've seen anything detailed in table form though - I'll have to check through my archives.

This was actually one of the exercices we had to do during the Service Manager course, to write the input/output of each processes, using a 10x10 matrix.
