Sorry if this is not the right forum to post this. I don't know where else to put it frankly.
I have fought IE7 for a little while now and finally gave up yesterday night. Unfortunately, I now lost the capability of reading my ITIL Books on CD-ROM. The software says: "Sorry - Your current browser does not fully support this product [...] Please use Internet Explorer 5.5 or above, or Mozilla 1.7+ or Firefox 1.0+"
Has anyone had that problem? Is there a fix?

I have both IE and Firefox on my PC. As the latter is such a quick and easy install, have you tried that? You might be able to subsequently point your CD at it somewhoe.
