Should I postpone taking the Service Delivery and Service Support courses requisite to ITIL Service Management certification until release of Version 3 of the certification scheme?
This is a question that moe and more people will be asking, as V3 gets closer. I can tell you that
1. V2 certificates will remain valid after V3
2.The core information remains the same.
3. It will take a whie for course providers and trainers to get to grips with the new material as we will no see it until it isreleased. The first few courses given could be a bit difficult for tutors and students as everyone gets to grips with the material.
4. The situation as regards exams is still unclear. ISEB and EXIN's contract runs out in mid 2007. It may or my not be renewed. There will be a new bank of questions from APMG. At the moment the tutors (some of whom are examiners) have a very good idea of what is needed in the exam, what the format should be etc. This will not be the case with V3 for some time.
If it was me, I would be looking to sit and pass the Managers exam under V2, or wait until the V3 exams have settled down in 12-18 months. I thin most people ho do the Managers course find it immensely useful - so whypostpone that experience???
Just my opinion ! _________________ Liz Gallacher,
