As I understand ITIL V3 is likely out in April 2007. My organisation has finalized on implementing ITIL. Should we wait for V3 and then implement it, or start implementation now and consider V3 next year.

What is the best way to go?

Since the light is green, go for it. After all ITILv3 is nothing but an enhancement to v2, you won't have to redesign your processes.

If you'll wait for v3, you've got to wait for another assessment to be completed, and you may start implementing in 2008.

The exams won’t be ready until about start of 2008, so where are you going to get a V 3 Master from to consult to you? By *END* of 2008 he or she may just know what they are talking about, and come 2009, you will have made enough progress in some of your ITIL disciplines to actually consider the next maturity step, to version 3.
