I hold a red badge and it is not an easy ride. I would suggest you work in the ITIL domain for a few months (4 to 6) and go for the bridging exam to get the Foundation V3. This will help you qualify for the V3 Manager as it is due in about 10 to 12 months time.
Manager's exam is tough and its good to have a working knowledge within ITIL framework.
Read white papers and the blue and red book before you attend the training.
