As a disclaimer, I should point out that I am a former Pink Elephant employee.
That being said, I got my introduction to service management at a Pink Elephant conference. It was quite by chance. I had an unused business airplane ticket voucher good for travel anywhere in the US that was about to expire. I found out that there was an ITIL Foundation class at a conference in Los Vegas being put on by some company named Pink Elephant. It was a strange name, but what the heck, it was a cheap opportunity to expand my horizons.
It changed my life. The speakers were humorous, informative and motivational. I learned more than just the fundamentals. I learned the underpinning concepts that make ITIL a viable way of performing IT. And it was fun.
Although I only had a short time of employment at Pink Elephant, I remember sitting in conference rooms with the people who had inspired me down this path having both deep discussions and joking with them about what ITIL is in the real world. A very fun and motivational group to learn from.
