Hi there,

my company, a global IT service provider (2000+ people) is already ISO 9001:2000 certified.

Upper management has now decided to implement ITIL best practices for Incident Management and Problem Management.

What are the advantages? What is the benefit? Marketing? Become more efficient?

Is there really that big a difference between these two systems? I mean the end goal is always the same: transparency, quality, efficiency, service.

Can someone help me understand please.

ISO9000 is primarily focused on the customer
ITIL disciplines focus on the actual delivery of IT service

Both compliment each other. But I would strongly recommend that to operate a quality service you MUST have ISO9000 to fil in the gaps that ITIL does not provide.

However, my company are heading to achieve BS15000 which is based around the ITIL disciplines.
