Hiya
Has anyone got experience of utilising HEAT as a CMDB?
We use this currently for the service desk but I am wondering if it is worth expanding to incorporate a CMDB or if it is better to use something else, either self built or off the shelf?

When I last looked at HEAT it had basic inventory capabilities, very little on relationships.
It's not likely to be a good idea to build your own CMDB ... in fact it could be quite a bad idea.
If you are going to justify a more powerful CMDB perhaps with a new service desk tool, you'll need to be very clear about what you want out of it. Just "having a CMDB" does very little for an organisation, despite the current hype.
