Hi Folks,
Quick but Important question. I want to start a online ITIL Foundation training. I have a 6+ years of extensive ITIL experience I'm based in India.
I want to know what kind of approval or rights etc I need to have to start a ITIL training Institute in India.
Any response is appreciated!

Novas,
Might be advisable to speak to the IT Service Management Forum first

itsmf do not have any authority in this area. Talk to APMG, ISEB, EXIN. _________________ Liz Gallacher,

Yes
If you want to be legal and certified to provide online training for certified course work
You have to go through a process that the governing body EXIN / ISEB or what ever it is called now - approves your company and your materials as 'approved' course work
And that the students who take the course can use the fact that they took the course so that they can take the exam
If you want to create a forum for passing information .. why ? this one does that
if you want to instead create a cram session site where sample questions and answers are there so that people can use the site instead of actually studying.
please dont. You do a disservice to the students and the online education community
===============================================
Merely creating a web site and expecting people and cash to roll in is very short sighted
you need to have a secure server, secure login, secure payment process. a business relationship with a bank etc to take credit/debit card payment and be able to process the payment
you need an identity with the accredidation bodies for ITIL
Look on the BCS web site or itSMF website about requirements for a training company / physical company
it aint easy _________________ John Hardesty

To add to John's post
Just remember that there is nothing quite so stressful as betting all your money that it will come out right in the end, especially in a small business.
Even though the product might be seen as 'perfect' by you, the likehood is that the punters will not see it that way.
What happens when it all goes pear shaped?

Thanks John and Ed,
Please guide me on this. What is the best way to start a online training course. I have good training materials and I'm a ITIL trainer for an MNC.
You may be aware ITIL is not as popular in India as in UK or US. However, it is getting familiar with IT professionals slowly now and the class room trainings are not at a affordable cost.

It is not Ed's or my job to be a start up business consultant.
I cant speak for Ed; but, I am currently working doing what I know - change management
An Online training company - and it should be a business - should have to go through the same process that a training company that is not on line
I will give the following advice/statement/query
You say you are a good trainer.
Did you write the materials that you use to conduct the training ?
If not, who did ?
Were they paid for ? Ie the Intelectual property for using the documents
Were they approved ITIL training material
The courses are expensive for a reason.
They are technical training courses - like the microsoft, cicso etc
Here in the UK, ISEB has to approve any training material for a company and they spot check the company and material by sitting in the class.
CHeck with ISEB or EXIM or the company APMG (?) like I posted above _________________ John Hardesty
