I am preparing to take the Version 2 to Version 3 Bridge class in early May. I am reading material in preparation for the one day class and exam. Can someone give me a good example of the difference between utility and warranty? I am really struggling to keep the two straight.

The Utility of an on-line banking service mans that it removes the constraints of having to visit your bank, only having information about your balance during working hours etc. It adds value because you can set up payments in advance etc. etc. Any one of these Constraints removed or Performance supported characteristics means that it fulfills the Utility aspect.

However, if it was insecure - so you could read someone else's details, or had insufficient capacity (only 5 people signed on at any one time), or was only available for 1 hour each night, it would fail the Warranty aspect.

Does that help?

Don't worry about the course/exam - but continue with your pre-course revision. Warning to others - do not turn up to the Foundation bridge with a hazy recollection of V2, and no idea about V3 - 1 day is not enough to get you up to speed. If you think you will struggle, book the whole V3 Foundation course, not the bridge.

Yes, that helps. The vendor doing the training provided the itSMF Introductory Overview of ITIL V3 to review prior to the course. Is there anything else you would suggest I read in preparation for the class and exam?

The book How to pass your V3 Foundation exam Official Study Guide ISBN9780113310791 is well worth the money.
WARNING the first edition of this has errors in the mock exam - make sure that it is the 2nd edition, or that you get the erratum slip (should be with it, but also available from itsmf bookshop)
