Hi,
I am a sr. Project Manager with an eLearning orgn and will be appearing for my PMP certification exam shortly. Post completing the PMP certification I want to go in for the ITIL certification. The question is i want to change my Domain from eLearning to Telecom project mangement. Would the ITIl certification help me in making this switch since I do not have the tech background.
It would appear ITIL is not really an issue. You're main challenge is to be able to go into a job interview and appearing to know enough about telecomms project management.
Having said that, with enough PM qualifications it is possible you might be considered fully adaptable to a new industry.
As a foot note I'd make the point that ITIL is useful to all IT staff, whether you are a project manager or anything else. How useful would also depend on what type of project you are running.
Cheers,

Thanks for the info. Yes I guess a certified PM's stamp helps one in switching industries. So maybe post PMP I should maybe look towards PRINCE or something similar.
Yes, I've done PRINCE2 and it's usually accepted as 'enough' in terms of project management certification. You can specialise but you also then limit your job options.
It's definitely worth at least a general awareness of the funadamental concepts in the ITIL framework because implementation projects (technology) should be supported by it's processes etc. Beyond that it's really down to your own interest in the subject matter.
Good luck,
