Hello fellow ITIL enthousiasts,
please allow me to introduce myself shortly:
Frans Bonné, IT specialist (male, I know my first name is sometimes confusing in english speaking countries )
Done ITIL foundation, halfway through ITIL Service Manager.
Working in an ITIL function on and off for 6 years now.
I have a small problem with the forums:
When I revisit the forums, I have different colored icons in front of the forums, but when I click on 'View posts since last visit' the search comes up empty. Also, when I go into a (sub) forum none of the threads are collored differently, so I have to check dates in order to know which topics I've read, and which not.
Is there anybody else with that problem? _________________ best regards,
Frans

Hi Frans! (Perfectly normal first name down here, btw ) Welcome to the boards.
The read/unread markers work fine for me. But I've seen issues like that on other forums.
If you go back to the main index or the unread posts page, do the coloured icons still appear or do they vanish?
At the top of the Forum Index page you should see something like this:
Code:
You last visited on Thu 2008-Sep-18, 10:54
The time now is Thu 2008-Sep-18, 15:25
Does the "last visited" time change to a very recent time? If so, what's happening is that the board software thinks you've started a new session. This most often happens if it sees you changing IP address.
Make sure you have cookies and javascript enabled ... but a very likely reason is that your ISP (or your company) sends your traffic through a pool of transparent proxy servers. This can result in each page view appearing to come from a different IP address and this forum software doesn't like that.
One way to control this is to set an explicit proxy in your browser. You'll need to find out the proxy address from your ISP.
