Whilst replying in this post I was reminded of some gems we had in my days on the Service Desk. Seeing as it's Christmas I thought a little festive cheer might not go amiss:

Service Desk Operator: “I’ve reset your password to abcdefg, lowercase”
User: “Is that hyphen lowercase?”

Service Desk Operator: “To logon, do you click on the “d” for Dacoll icon?
User: No, I click on the backwards “b”

Service Desk Operator (talking a user through the self cleaning routine on a Cannon BJ300 printer): “Can you press the MICRO UP arrow”
User: "Is that the arrow pointing up?"

Service Desk Operator: “I’ve reset your password to abcdefg”
User: “Can I enter that in any order ??”

User: “There’s a message on my screen saying all the systems will be going off at 14.30. What time are the computers going down?”

User: “My mouse is faulty”
Service Desk Operator: “You need to get a new one from your admin.”
User: “Is that in MY COMPUTER?”

Service Desk Operator: "Have you got a ‘Tiny’ computer?"
User: "No! It’s about normal size".

Service Desk Operator: “Can you hold ALT and F4”
User: “Where’s the HOLD key?"

Service Desk Operator: "Is it a Dell?”
User: “No, It’s Tracy”

User: “The system won’t accept the date I’m inputting”
Service Desk Operator: “What date are you putting in ??”
User: “30th February “

User: “I’ve forgotten my password"
Service Desk Operator: "OK then, what's your Employee Number?"
User: "I've forgotten that as well!"
Service Desk Operator: "OK then, what's your surname?"
User: "BURKE"

User: "Can you retrieve deleted Lotus Notes messages?"
Service Desk Operator: "Yes, when did you delete them?"
User: "Over the last two years"

User: "“I need to send a letter to Saudi Arabia. I’ve typed it on Word. What key do I press to convert it into Arabic?”

User: "I've been asked to change my password on Lotus Notes. What should I use as a password?
Service Desk Operator: "Anything as long as it's 8 characters"
User: "Can I use my name?"
Help Desk Operator: "What’s your name?"
User: "Dave".

my fav is the following

user: my computer is not recognising my printer. i even have the monitor lookoing at the printer and it still does not recognize ....
