Hi all

I am new to ITIL but found the course I went on very interesting. I did the ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate in Service Management a couple of weeks ago. I did the mocks during the course and passed them without any major problems, then came the real thing ... well that was a complete different ball game altogether!

I dont know about anyone else out there, but I found it extremely hard and to me the exam seemed more of an intermediate level rather than foundation. Has anyone else any thoughts on this?

Well I didnt feel very confident when I came out of it and stupidly I changed some of answers at the end - I never listen! Anyways my results came yesterday and guess how manyI failed by - 1 question! I am so gutted, so am now revising loads and loads.

If anyone has any experience of the same, please email me and make me feel better. Or if anyone has any advice to give me for my re-sit please please please contact me.

Hope to hear from someone soon!

Will do!

Am I right to say that the foundation certificate is quite hard to obtain?

About 90% pass.

I took the course through my company. I stupidly changed some of my answers at the end thinking they were wrong, if I hadnt done that I have no doubt I would have passed.

I hope I pass the re-sit though.

That is the other bit of advise I give - do not change your answers. Best method for me is:
1. Go through and do all the easy ones. When you get to a tricky one, put a ? next to it and move straight on. If it looks impossible, put ??. That way you get all the easy marks before you tie yourself in knots.
2, Do the ? ones next. Read it very carefully, look for key words, try and do a fifty-fifty (eliminate any obviously wrong answers). If all else fails, guess! Some people choose the longest answer at this point, or the one which mentions business requirements.
3. Only then do the ?? ones - you probably do not need them anyway by now, so do not agonise over them. If you find yourself talking yourself into an answer - it is the wrong answer. Again, if al else fails (and it probably will at this point) - guess!
4. Check you have answered all 40 questions. Then STOP. Do not re-read/change.

GOOD LUCK!

Thanks - that is great advice!

I should always go with my instinct. I am planning on doing my re-sit in the next week or so whilst the course material is still fresh in my mind. And I will not change my answers this time!

Thanks again
