dvadlamoodi,
Why do you want to know about courses before you know what ITIL is?
For the record, ITIL is a body of good practice (derived from experience and underpinned with deep understanding) in the performance of IT Service Management.
Simple forum and web searches will lead to that information as well as a considerable body of information about training. _________________ "Method goes far to prevent trouble in business: for it makes the task easy, hinders confusion, saves abundance of time, and instructs those that have business depending, both what to do and what to hope."

Doign the search first using
things like google or yahoo searching for words like ITIL
even wiki has something
Instead of being lazy and expecting us to answer your initial curiosity., why dont you do the search
you obviously know how to search as you found this site _________________ John Hardesty

Mr John
Thanks for your courtesy though it is bit harsh. I will do. I thought this forum would help something instead of being harsh. |

Yes it was harsh. so what
Yes we do help but we also expect someone who is interested in ITIL to do more than come to the site and ask us to do what they could do them selves.
We expect people do their part and then come to us
If you are interested in a subject - ITIL, particle physics, US war of Northern Agression (1861 - 65), you usually either go to a library, book store or the internet to search for things. This means you have taken an effort to find out.
Basically what you posted can be synopsized below
Hey.. I am too lazy to use the Internet to find out about ITIL. Instead I found this web site. I want to get certification in ITIL after I find out what ITIL is. Can some one write the searches, use the search tools and put the answers in front of me because i can not be bothered to it myself _________________ John Hardesty

1. Would like to know about ITIL courses?
A quick search on the web will give you plenty of information on ITIL courses. For ITIL version 3, you start with foundation then can take various modules lifecycle ort capability to build up points which finally make you an ITIL Expert. Key words to search for in google are "ITIL V3 Certification Scheme". This will give you the overview. You will also find a good reference point is if you go to downloads.com and search for 'ITIL STUDY'. It contains quite a lot of reference material.
2. Do I have to start with ITIL foundation and then other courses?
YES
3. What would it need to complete ITIL certified?
An ITIL Expert is good certification.
4. Who would need ITIL certification, is that Software development folks or Infrastructure folks?
EVERYONE, Service management effects all of IT. |

I always thought that the mantra of any self respecting IT person was RTFM. Is this no longer the case in the brave new world? _________________ DYbeach

RTFM
Read The Fine Manual.
This may be interpreted as: "You have asked a question which would best be answered by consulting the manual (or FAQ, or other help files), a copy of which should be in your possession. The question you have asked is clearly answered in the manual and you are wasting time asking people to read it to you." It's good netiquette to mail this type of answer to another user rather than post it in public messages.
source: an acronym site at Indiana University that can be googled to. _________________ "Method goes far to prevent trouble in business: for it makes the task easy, hinders confusion, saves abundance of time, and instructs those that have business depending, both what to do and what to hope."

I have been expecting those things for years and never got them so why should s/he?
It seems that most of the forum posters are miserable old gits so you may have something there _________________ DYbeach

I doubt there is consensus on this matter. but you might be best to avoid Indiana for a while since you may have crossed their fine line. _________________ "Method goes far to prevent trouble in business: for it makes the task easy, hinders confusion, saves abundance of time, and instructs those that have business depending, both what to do and what to hope."

| I'm glad to hear that "RTFM" is a common term in our life nowdays. It's the spoon feeding age, they don't like to read/work. Can I get a foot massage please? |
