|
|
Hi All,
I am ITIL V3 certified working for Capaicty Management from the last 10 months. In total I have 4 years of IT Expereience.
Before working for Capacity Managemnt I was working on Network Monitoring tool.
I want to know if there is scope for ITIL consultants woking for Capacity Management because I have never seen opening for Cpacity Management whereas I had seen many openings for Incident,Problem,Change Management which makes me a bit worried about my future in this field.
Regards,

Hi Ash,
Welcome to the Forums, this is not a job consulting website you can find some statistics online just google it. Also yes some companies out there are looking for that position. So Capacity management didn't come to an end yet.
Kind regards,

I can say that Cap Mgmt roles are rare
Usually they get made because of a need
Usually network or telco centric
I worked for a one of my clients and in addition to doing CHange, I got volunteered for Capacity
It fit into the role I was doing for change so i actually enjoyed it _________________ John Hardesty

Hi
I will be implementing Capacity Management for one of our new clients.
Hoping to learn new things from this experience and hopefully I may even get opportunity in some other company.

Naaah, learning on clients cost is not fair.
It's an approach like this that makes life for me as consultant so hard ... Fixing others "hey customer, i've learned a lot and you paid" issues is very hard as customers are often confused after these experiences.
I (freelance) don't like this! |

How else do you think outsourcing companies have built their workforce |

Tomkin,
You mean quality and value vs. quantity and costs? |

MBU,
I mean that is how they offer bad quality at low cost. The sad part is that senior management sees value in it when they intiate outsourcing. |

Ash
I used the V2 chapter on Capacity Mgmt as my baseline and worked from there
I had to write policy, process, procedure and workflow documentation on the fly
The most usefull tool other than word processing was presentation s/w like PowerPoint _________________ John Hardesty
