Right so I own the policy doc and this thread is an exercise about debating the wisdom of a change to the policy.

Just because we can make it so doesn't mean we should. Just because another company does it one way doesn't mean another company should. This is obvious, I am just looking to share ideas.

No issue tracking online approvals as we have a Service Management application that is efficient at doing so.

I was trying to explain why I stated the friggin obvious about the policy document which got you in such a twist about the forum and its results

Obviously, you only are interested in us giving you exactly what you want.. and only that

as you posted about the people being resistant to change, I had thought .. maybe you want some opinions / suggestions - even obviously ones to help you come to your own decision.

but hey ... who would have thought that the exchange of information - freely given - would be so anethma to you

next time, please state exactly what information you want in the specific format and what information that you are not interested in seeing in response. Ensure that you provide the context and limitation of the information that is provided by our posts so as to not offend you

this way ... the forum users - myself include - can then ensure that we provide you exactly with what you want

Halfway through reading this sentence I very nearly opened fire. Nevertheless I think the emphasis is very wrong and voting is a very strange management tool.

I'm not happy with less than consensus for change approval. A dissenter's reason will always be "very strong and valid" until it is discussed and resolved satisfactorily. An approver's approval can be based on it not impacting their area without any positive implication. Arbitration is up to senior management (usually not the change manager unless the issue is about the process). I idealise slightly here, but it cannot be good to go so far as to let people think that a majority vote is okay.
