Hi - I am asked to interview a candidate for Global Change Manager role.
Also to understand his knowledge on ITIL v3 concepts

Now - May I check with you all and seek expert advise on what kind of questions should I be posting to decide whether a person would fit into the role. And what is that I need to be validating in the person

Second, Can someone help me with a small set of sample questions... I should be able to develop questions during the course of the interview based on the discussion with the candidate to understand the candidate's capabilities for the role... but a right start would mean I hitting the bullseye and thus make most out of time

in my humble opinion, you should not focus on whether he has done the V3 course and exams

You should interview him for experience doing / managing / etc - Change management

I am as I have said a Change Manager, I have been doing this for 7-8 years now

I have the ITIL v2 Service Manager's Certificate (Red Badge). I looked at the v3 books and there is not much difference for CM in the book to warrant my spending the time / money on the v3 bridge course

Concentrate on the skills he needs to be change manager

Sure John...
So as a global change manager - the candidate would be required to –
Own policies, manuals and procedures
Ensure process being followed across organization
Functionally manage the people working for change management
Able to extract work, impart training,
Play a core role whenever the organization experiences a change - say new client, new business, any merger & acquisitions so as to ensure that the defined process is carried across the extension or is modified to the best of the organizations vision and objectives
Persuasion skills
Handling Senior Management viewpoints – say if they disagree with any set process
Identify and carry out Continual Service Improvement

Anything more or anything less that I need to check while assessing the candidate’s capabilities?

Integration with Release, configuration mgmt team - for systems and applications

Also, work with SD on incident / problem mgmt

also work with 3rd parties regarding there CM process


Also, where is role as I am contractor and my current is winding down / not a full time person
