Hi ITIL Experts,
Can someone please advice me how good is ITIL and the job prospects...
I'm working adult with 5 years + experience in windows environment and Sharepoint. I worked as a Incident team lead as well.
The thing over here is I'm really interested in non tech related job. Even at my current workplace, I came up with the support framework according to the ITIL standards. But when I'm looking for purely ITIL related job, it's very less here.
Currently I'm pursuing my ITIL v3 foundation+PMP.
Can someone please advice what's missing from my end?
Thanks in advance

good as what ?
ITIL is a IT process guideline for managing IT Operations - Incident etc
It benefits those who are in IT doing IT operations
It does not hurt to have certification and experience in it _________________ John Hardesty

Thynk
The issue is the LINK
The blantant sales blurb is merely an irritant -
As for what Diarmid wrote, he is NOT in the sales business. he is a tech / IT person who uses ITIL - like me. It also was sarcasm / irony - which is a English speciality - which escapes me as I am a hillbilly stuck in england. You should read more than one or 2 post to try to justify sales posts.
While sales post are allowed, they are an irritant in here when we get spam like posts - which yours is NOT - from training companies
I also have to say that the forum Certification is probably the only forum in this web site - where Sales posts - relevant and not spam - are tolerated.
I have to say after reading your entire post, I must admit I did jump the gun on the post / sales blurb. You actually answered his question and then offered the services of your company.
So ITIL ADMIN should be merely edit the link out and leave your post out
It is cold and the GoGs are in full bloom today _________________ John Hardesty

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply...
As a Change Manager, I think you can give me a piece of good advice here.
Example, do you need to be tech savvy to be a CHANGE MANAGER or well versa with the ITIL processes only??
Hi Sam,
Thanks for you valuable output...
In a way, I know ITIL is very valuable...
Unfortunately, I'm not from UK to join your ITIL class...
Cheers

It depends
I know the phrase is rather trite but.....
if you are dealing with Application Change Management - you have to understand concepts like programing, build plans etc - but you dont have to be a hard core tech weenie
It helps in things like - realizing BS when a team lead say - we never have any issues .. it installs ok... why should we test
Being tech oriented is ok but not required
I put a defintion of a good CM as follows - summarized
a good cm is power mad dictatorial anal retentive pedantic with delusions of godhood
and sometime you do CM
Your main role - besies managing the process - is keeping the idiots from screwing up the system and acting as the doubting thomas - ie prove it rather than take some ones word
Please read through the CM Forum for more data _________________ John Hardesty

Hi John,
Thank you so much for your detailed explanation.
At least I'm getting a clearer picture now..
Meaning to say it will be a +point if you have tech knowledge as well...
I'll go through the CM forum as well.
Let me complete my ITIL foundation before coming up with more questions...
Cheers

Diarmid
Thynk challenged my quick fired post about sales spam and used your response to some one wanting ITIL templates as the basis.
