Test plans are an essential ingredient for conducting successful tests. They are nothing to do with ITIL except in the sense that it would be a very foolish change plan that did not include testing wherever practical and therefore documentation relating to that testing.
ITIL does not express requirements and "must" is not in the ITIL vocabulary.
It is your own documented procedures (based on your own documented policies) that will control in what circumstances you "must" have test plans and at what stages you "must" verify and record them and record compliance with them.
Your policies, your strategies, your rules. ITIL is guidance and in no way prescriptive. _________________ "Method goes far to prevent trouble in business: for it makes the task easy, hinders confusion, saves abundance of time, and instructs those that have business depending, both what to do and what to hope."

I totally agree with Diarmid. Test plans / results are essential for an RFC. Not only from a Change Management perspective, but from my own (proactive) Problem Management perspective also.
I have found this to be an excellent resource for info on test approaches:

So why on earth include the functionality to do so ?
Only an ITIL board would ignore one of the most fundamental aspects of application design _________________ "Acknowledge what you don't know." |

Posts are ASCII text / html format text. This is usually standard with any
You can put in a URL for a site; because this is merely text
The reason we do not want this in the site I leave to the Admin for this site
Please also note that this site is a FREE SITE. The admin are not being paid to manage this site
ITIL itself has nothing to do with this issue _________________ John Hardesty

Well if people linking to other sites is such a big deal (though I can't for the life of me see why: it's how the internet works) the the admins should disable HTML as a global setting.
Look at the options: html can be set to off. Leaving it enabled is just inviting people to do what is not wanted.
Where does it state that on this site that hyperlinks are not permitted ?
P.S. Stop shouting: caps-lock-o-vision is not big or clever _________________ "Acknowledge what you don't know." |

Viking is spot on: we aren't paid. We provide a facility out of out own pockets, free to use. A consequence of that is that we use the software we have, which was also free.
Note too that the gang also provide something for nothing on this free platform: their valued opinion and expertise.
So sorry to be so blunt, but if you don't like this extremely minor inconvenience in return for all this, Morticia.... well... maybe someone more diplomatic than I am will explain.
BTW: If you actually look at this forum or any other carefully, you will see very quickly what happens if links are allowed. It isn't pretty.
PS: Viking IS big and clever. |
