For your peace of mind, I know in every quest there is a corresponding cost - be it monetary or efforts. When I asked the silly question I was merely looking for an affirmation in the equation of a cost-benefit analysis. But I am grateful for your response, truly is. Much appreciated

Hello Gents...

I have this issue that has been bugging me. When I heard about this self-study thing in ITIL V3 foundation and that being offered in Prometric and Vue, this could settle my question. Does this mean you can take the exam that without taking the course? I have obtained some review materials and have been studying. When ready can I just go to the testing center to take the cert test.

The Foundation Exam is the ONLY certification in ITIL that does NOT require a training course.

There is an official study set. Google Official ITIL Foundation

So the answer is yes for Foundation
