May be its a very trivial question to ask, but I need to know the number of questions that need to be answered correctly out of 40 in ITIL foundation exam. Or what is the percentage that you need to obtain to pass the foundation certification?

The Foundation certificate requires 65%. That is (i calculate), 26 out of 40 correct.
