Hi All,

I'm a complete newbie to ITIL. But thought it may be beneficial to other if I share my experience.

Yesterday morning, I subscribed to an online training programme, which included the v3 foundation exam.

I started working through their tutorials etc...got very bored...then this morning scheduled the exam and just passed it!

My point: If you have a background in IT. (I'm an project engineer) but have never worked on a service desk, and have a quick read through the ITIL Glossary avaliable freely on the internet, you shouldn't have any problems with this exam.

My passs mark wasn't great, but as I was purely doing this as I thought it would look good on my CV, then hey ho.

Well done.

But don't forget, you are still "a complete newbie".

I disagree.

He is an incomplete newbie

Justyn,

Please realize you have passed the equivilent - in ITIL best practice / Service Management terms - of general math test.

You can add, subtract, divide and multiply. You understand the relationship between addition and subtration as well as division and multiplication.

Diarmid, myself and others with years of experience and sometimes - certifications - are at the equivilent of writing complex equations and writing proofs using integrals, diffiential equations and matrix math

I commend you on the passign of the exam. However, all it really means is that you understsand the concept of ITIL BP and service management.

You have a while to go before you have reach the top

Who did you take the online foundation exam with?

I also work as a project manager and have worked on the service desk many years ago.
Would be good to see some mock exam questions and then attempt the exam if it is that easy?

Hi Chris

You'll find the course syllabus and a free sample exam paper here:
[Admin: No links please]

You can take the exam in Prometric, Pearson Vue centres or online - there are various different online providers including www.loyalistexams.com.

Whoops. Nosying around the forum I see that links are not allowed here.

If the link is deleted, it's the ITIL Offiical Site you need and then check under qualifications.

Hi all.. Good day.

I have heard a self-study scheme for ITIL V3. Does this mean a person sho studied independently (self-taught) can take the ITIL V3 Foundation exam without taking the course?

Any insights on this? Thanks
