I'm fast coming to the conclusion that they're not worth the paper they're written on. Anyone can walk in off the street, do a few training courses and get the qualifications now and I see lots of V3 experts who couldn't find their arse with both hands.
What can we do to raise standards?
I'm going to say V4 qualifications should have a pre-requisite 7 years experience. |

BorisBear,
I had that conclusion when they no longer required a written exam
the entire ITIL certification program is geared to generate income for the training companies and their trainers with out exposing them to any additional duties
The ITIL Expert level exam should be a written exam - testing the knowledge of both ITIL and how to Implement it
It is now a multiple guess exam
So any trained monkey can get it write - eventually _________________ John Hardesty

There's an opportunity here for us to create a spin-off, rival IT service management faction with a raw brand of ITIL stipped down of all the proprietary bs included in V3 intended to sell the wares of the major ITSM tool manufacturers. We could create our own qualification/certification...........how about Service Demi-God? |

I think the certification path would go
Novice - can spell ITIL and use it in a sentenace with IT Service Management
Monk - Can recite in 3 part harmony with 1 or more monks the identified processes and how they interrelate
prelate - can create dittys, puns and songs about ITIL and best practice
primate - can bless ITSM tools and curse them as well
Pope - stands and waves at all _________________ John Hardesty
