For general information and resources, ITIL and ITSM World is the most well known for both ITIL and ITIL Books. A shorter snapshot approach can be found at ITIL Zone

I'd like recommendations on ITIL and ITSM books that provide a deeper understand of each (or both together, as the case may be).
I'm looking to learn about the principles and pratices, and read about real-world applications of them. I'd like to be able to use this information to help IT organizations optimize their own operations.
I have not yet read the actual ITIL books - would these books suit my purpose? Although I intend to go beyond my foundation certification for ITIL, my purpose right now is not to study for a test, but to understand practical applications and principles and their use in the real world.

The books are good reference books on how to use ITIL B.P. in the IT SM world of your organization
The books - all 5 of them - are expensive set of books
Go to the official site and do the following
Get the booklet - which is very high level - like an appetizer first
It is about £15
Then invest in the ITIL books that first deal with the immediate area you are in... then get the rest or get all 5 at once _________________ John Hardesty
